The Importance of Hymenoplasty (Hymen Repair):

Although hymen repair draws criticism from some on professional ethics grounds, it carries real sociological significance — particularly in more conservative societies — as a safeguard, and sometimes even a guarantee, of a woman's standing in her community.

Obstetrician-gynecologists need to understand this procedure and recognize it as a legitimate healthcare service.

Unfortunately, it is difficult for obstetrician-gynecologists to learn hymenoplasty procedures during their residency at teaching and research hospitals.

As a result, experience with hymenoplasty becomes the key differentiator.

Hymenoplasty (Hymen Repair):

The hymen's tissue wall is made up of three layers: the submucosal tissue and the vaginal mucosa.

An opening must always be left to allow menstrual fluid and natural discharge to pass through.

Properly joining all three tissue layers is essential for a correct hymenoplasty procedure.

At our clinic, we continuously work to make hymenoplasty procedures more comfortable and ensure a smoother healing process.

We make every effort to stay a step ahead in hymenoplasty by using every advantage that current medical technology offers us.

After roughly 3–4 months of work, we began applying MEDICAL OZONE TECHNOLOGY — already widely used in women's health — to our patients following hymenoplasty procedures, to promote faster wound healing and better tissue integration.

This is a non-invasive application — in other words, it carries no risk of physical harm to the patient.

Among medical ozone applications, we determined that the most suitable method for this area is to prepare an active ozonated solution and use it to wash the treated area.

This involves washing the area with an active ozone-infused oil after the patient has been cleaned with the required antiseptic solutions post-operation.

We have clearly observed that this application results in faster, stronger tissue integration.

Since we know that vaginal flora — that is, vaginal discharge and the pH level of the area — can be a factor in hymenoplasty procedures, our medical ozone applications have helped us overcome these challenges.

The effect of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) on speeding up tissue integration is well established. It is used intensively, especially after burns and major skin trauma. At our clinic, we provide vitamin C supplementation to patients — particularly after permanent hymenoplasty procedures — to help the joined tissue heal and regenerate more quickly.

Genetic research and related scientific technologies are advancing rapidly — some studies that once seemed like fantasy are now part of the published literature.

The news article shown above clearly illustrates that lab-grown vaginal tissue may one day make it possible to grow the hymen itself as well.

If that day comes, we intend to be among the first to offer it.

For now, while such tissue is not yet grown specifically for hymenoplasty purposes, we use every proven, safety-tested medical technology available that benefits our patients.

To date, PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) has been used by many physicians for a wide range of health conditions.

What Is PRP?

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is blood plasma that has been enriched for its platelet content.

How Is It Obtained?

It is obtained by centrifuging blood (separating it using a centrifuge device), which separates the cells into layers based on their molecular weight.

What Does It Do?

Platelets in the blood are constantly performing the body's natural repair functions. Consider how they work to heal even the smallest cut on the human body. PRP is essentially a concentrated form of these very cells — the platelets responsible for this repair work.

We know this technology, widely used recently in cosmetic surgery and dermatology, has applications across many different fields.

Does It Work for Hymenoplasty Procedures?

We are happy and excited to say: yes. It significantly increases cell development and helps tissue integrate faster and more securely. In permanent hymenoplasty procedures, we have observed meaningful improvements in tissue integration and strength when PRP is applied to joined tissues, whether using the flap technique or parallel wall approximation.

There are no side effects with PRP use — since it uses the patient's own blood and 100% sterile conditions are maintained, there is essentially no possibility of an adverse reaction.

Counting from when we truly became specialized through experience — rather than simply when we began — we have now been performing hymenoplasty procedures for over 10 years.

Our women's health center has successfully performed hymenoplasty procedures since 2005.
